Ok, so it’s not really a magic, instant step stool, but it’s close. By airing down the tires of a vehicle, particularly a truck or SUV, you can lower the front or rear of the vehicle by several inches which may be just enough to get to whatever you’re doing. You can let the air out by removing the valve core with a special screwdriver or by simply pushing in on the valve core. I was replacing a camshaft synchronizer (look for a video soon!) on this 2002 Ford Ranger 2WD 3.0 V6 and I didn’t want to work on a step stool while I was doing it. The cam synchro is on the very back of the engine, and this gave me just enough clearance to get to everything without a step stool.
Happy wrenching!
